Helga Geraldine Pataki is the tritagonist and anti-hero, as well as often the main antagonist of the classic Nickelodeon animated series, Hey Arnold! and serves as the deuteragonist of television film Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie, which is eventually redeemed. She is known for her hilarious duel personalities: a hot-headed and pushy tomboy with a fragile temper around her peers and family members and an unseemingly passionate, melodramatic, and poetic schoolgirl driven by her undying admiration for the show's protagonist, Arnold.

In nearly every episode, Helga wears her hair in pigtails along with a large pink bow. Though in 'Arnold's Valentine,' Helga willingly has her hair done differently with the exception of her bow. Like her hairstyle, Helga's outfit remains redundant throughout the series with the exception of some of the holiday themed episodes. Her attire consists of a white t-shirt underneath a pink dress with a red sash at the waist and white shoes. However, her unibrow contradicts her girly appearance, an iconic physical trait amongst the show's fandom.

During school and behind closed doors with her family, Helga puts on a "tough girl" façade. This act becomes especially (and probably subconsciously) stronger around Arnold, whom she's had a crush on since pre-school. Despite her demeanor towards others, she is in actuality a soft-hearted dreamer that has a hidden kindness, rarely exposed when faced with certain circumstances. Helga is also extremely gifted with poetry and writing, fueled by her secret romantic feelings for a certain "football head"(in Helga's terms).
